When Darkness Hugs Your Day

What do you do
when darkness
hugs your day?

When reaching
for courage
seems illogical

When your comedy
has become
a tragedy

What do you do?

When you start
doubting yourself
at every turn

Just when
the bullet
is finally locked
in
the chamber

And your painting
is now a mosaic
of
pain and neglect

What do you do?

When the memories
of
what used to be
still haunt

Just when
everything
seems to stop

And when
the so-called
“wise words” of people
aren’t
making sense

Try this

Unfold your arms
Unclench your fist

Lift
your head up

Reflect objectively
if you must

Acknowledge
what
you’ve truly lost

Reach out
for help
if you must

Don’t stay
down there

It’s only
circumstantial

Not your identity

Series
of situations

Not your existence

A “happening”
and not
your
life’s definition

So why chase a sun
that
has long set?

For sooner or later
when you
turn around

You will see
that
a new dawn
has already
risen
behind you

And in case you forgot

Despite your struggles
and scars

You’re beautiful

Strong
Dogged
Brave and badass

You’re needed
in this world

Remember that

So when darkness
hugs your day

Don’t give in!
